Special Education

The Children’s Academy Bahrain is an independent school for children with mild to moderate learning difficulties who possess the cognitive skills to benefit from an academic Programs based on the British National Curriculum. It is affiliated to the prestigious Alpha Plus Group who run independent schools in England.

The Children’s Academy caters for pupils between the ages of 4 and 16 years who struggle to achieve expected levels of attainment at school, and for whom differentiation or special pupil grouping in mainstream settings is not enough. Some pupils have specific learning needs associated with dyslexia, dyscalculia or dyspraxia. Some have speech and language delay or low levels of concentration and self-esteem.

Fees
All parents who wish their child to register their child on the school’s waiting list for admission must first return a completed registration form to the school together with a non-refundable application fee of 50 BD.

Children with moderate learning difficulties from all nationalities are eligible for admittance to the school. The criterion for admission is based upon the outcome of an assessment made by an Educational Psychologist. The child’s age is taken into account, as is his or her previous schooling, English language proficiency and cognitive ability/learning potential. All admissions to The Children’s Academy are made on the basis of the school’s ability to meet each child’s needs.

If a place is offered following the child’s assessment, the parent will be required to pay a 500 BD deposit to secure the place. The deposit is refunded when the child leaves the school, subject to the school having been given a full term’s written notice of the child’s withdrawal.

Fees are payable in three equal annual installments and by the first day of each term. A non-refundable development levy of 518 BD per annum, used for capital and curriculum improvements/investments, is also payable at the start of each academic year.

Alia For Early Intervention offers evaluation, early Intervention Services and case management to eligible children and their families. Children eligible for services must be: three years old/ of age at the time of referral, and suspected of developmental delay or diagnosed with a physical or mental condition, resulting in a high probability of delay in the following areas:

· Cognitive development
· Communication development
· Social or emotional development
· Physical development

The children follow a range of interventions, depending on their individual needs. Most of the children follow the Applied Behavior Analysis programs. This is a one to one intervention that teaches the children various skills in receptive language, expressive language, and imitation, play skills, independent work and academics. Addition to the ABA programs, the children also follow the Miller Method and TEACCH.

RIA Caters to the needs of mainstream learners as well as students with Special Educational Needs offering a year round educational and ‘mini’ respite service. With the mission statement of ‘Education for All’  and promoting awareness of living in the community with particular regard to persons with physical and/or intellectual disabilities,  RIA  Caters to the needs of mainstream learners as well as students with Special Educational Needs offering a year round educational and ‘mini’ respite service.

RIA teaches in both English and Arabic.

Rainbows for Kids is a British Curriculum based Nursery following Montessori principles and teaching methods. We provide a loving, caring, fun-filled and secure environment. We are unique in Bahrain for our child orientated events and the motivation and opportunities we create for the children in our care

Admission & Attendance
Age: Rainbows accepts children from 1 year of age to shy of 4 years old. Application (Non-Refundable) BD20 (For New Enrollments) / Registration fees: BD 40 / The first payment covering September, October, November, and December is BD 490 / This payment must be paid by the end of April to ensure a place next September.
The second payment is due at the First week of October covering January, February,
March and April 2018 is BD 490 / Third payment is due at the First week of Jan covering May, June and July is BD 370

Little Village is a child development center that provides early intervention services for children with delayed communication skills. We provide children with a safe and specialized learning environment that supports their learning. Our goal is to provide children ages 2 to 6 years with the opportunity to develop their communications skills and integrate them into mainstream schools. Our Early Integration Program is run by a specialized team of teachers and therapists and provides our students with a customized Individual Education Plan as well as an opportunity to be part of a classroom and learn in a group setting. Alia’s curriculum is a developmental-based program concerned with the development of the whole child, emphasizing social, intellectual, emotional and physical growth. At Alia, the teachers carefully plan open-ended and child-directed activities and emphasis is placed on the value of play, learning environments and developmentally appropriate materials and activities. Our philosophy is that children learn through active and child-initiated play, through direct contact with concrete objects, through repeated positive experiences, and most of all, they learn through interactions with people who are important to them.
